  • tygodniowy wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta wynosi 45 h;
  • 1 punkt ECTS odpowiada 25-30 godzinom pracy studenta potrzebnej do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się;
  • tygodniowy nakład pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się pozwala uzyskać 1,5 ECTS;

The courses introduces student to popular culture, its genres and conventions in variety of media including print, television, film and new media. The module investigates the development of popculture and its genres and its (and theirs) historical and cultural contexts. It also allows students to explore various methodological approaches and methods used in academic study of popculture and its phenomena.

Treści kształcenia:

Wykład:
The course constitutes an introduction to popular culture, its genres and conventions in variety of media including print, television, film and new media. The module investigates the development of popculture and its genres and its (and theirs) historical and cultural contexts. It also enables the participants to explore various methodological approaches and methods used in academic study of popculture and its phenomena.

The course will focus on following issues: the semiotics of popcultural texts (including commercials, commodities and more complex issues such as monomyth in popculture); popcultural retellings; genre conventions and blurred genres.

The module investigates the development of popculture and its genres and its (and theirs) historical and cultural contexts. It also enables the participants to explore various methodological approaches and methods used in academic study of popculture and its phenomena.

Treści kształcenia:

Wykład:
Celem wykładów jest wprowadzenie do kultury popularnej w ujęciu chronologicznym oraz problemowym. Podczas wykładów uwzględnione zostaną różne rodzaje kultury popularnej oraz jej nośniki, takie jak słowo drukowane, obraz telewizyjny oraz nowe media. Problematyka kultury masowej ukazana zostanie w szerokim kontekście historycznym oraz cywilizacyjnym z uwzględnieniem dawnej kultury ludowej, kultury klasy robotniczej, kultury wysokiej. Omówione zostaną również różne stanowiska naukowe do kultury masowej z uwzględnieniem analizy historycznej, psychoanalizy, strukturalizmu oraz postmodernizmu. Chociaż wykłady koncentrować się będą na rozwoju kultury masowej w cywilizacji zachodniej, uwzględniony zostanie również aspekt intercywilizacyjny ukazujący rozwój kultury masowej w Azji Północno-Wschodniej (Chiny, Japonia, Korea), w Indiach oraz krajach muzułmańskich.

Wykłady będą poświęcone następującym zagadnienim.

1. Wprowadzenie do kultury masowej. Wyjaśnienie kluczowych terminów.

2. Kultura masowa w starożytności, średniowieczu i czasach nowożytnych. Próba syntezy.

3. Peter Burke i jego obraz kultury masowej w Europie wczesnonowożytnej

4. Nośniki kultury masowej: obraz, słowo drukowane, obraz ruchowmy, nowe media.

5. Rozwój kultury masowej w XX wieku w USA. Od Randolpha Hearsta po Henry Luce'a.

6. Wpływ mitu na kulturę masową: Joseph Campbell i "Wojny Gwiezdne".

7. Motywy klasyczne w kulturze masowej: od bajek Ezopa po Walta Disneya.

8. James Bond. Kultura masowa w ujęciu Umberto Eco.

9. Bracia Grimm i ich wpływ na kulturę masową.

10. Współczesna kultura masowa w USA: Hollywood.

11. Współczesna kultura masowa w Indiach: Bollywood

12. Koreański K-Pop jako przejaw globalizacji kultury azjatyckiej

13. Horror jako przejaw kultury masowej w ujęciu E. Michaela Jonesa.

14. Kultura masowa w czasach globalizacji i makdonaldyzacji.

15. Podsumowanie: między kulturą popularną a elitarną.




Metody dydaktyczne:

Oceny formujące:

Egzamin :
Ocena formująca oparta będzie o uczestnictwo w wykładzie oraz indywidualne studia podanej w sylabusie literatury przedmiotu. Dopuszczalne są tylko dwie nieusprawiedliwione nieobecności.




Ocena końcowa:

Ocena końcowa będzie oparta o egzamin ustny składający się z odpowiedzi studenta na trzy pytanie. Pierwsze pytanie będzie sprawdzało ogólną wiedzę studenta w oparciu o treści przekazane na wykładzie. Drugie pytanie będzie sprawdzało wiedzę studenta w oparciu o wybraną pozycję monograficzną zawartą w sylabusie. Trzecie pytanie dotyczyło będzie wiedzy będącej wynikiem pracy indywidualnej nad wybranym zagadnieniem omawianym w trakcie wykładów lub samodzielnie zaproponowanym przez studenta. Ocena końcowa będzie średnią trzech udzielonych odpowiedzi.
